Credits and plans
What a credit buys, what each plan includes, and how the free trial works.
OpenClip's core pipeline (clipping, content generation, AI UGC) is priced in credits; the in-app media tools instead use free daily quotas. One credit equals one minute of source video processing. Plans grant a monthly credit allowance.

Processing and content generation are both driven by the source video's length, so a 20-minute podcast costs 20 credits to clip. Trimming your submission to a section before processing charges only that portion.
The free trial
Signing up does not grant credits. Free processing comes from the 3-day trial, which requires a card and costs $0 today. Starting it seeds 60 credits, opens processing, and resumes any videos you parked before starting (see Uploading videos).
Right after checkout, OpenClip checks the card by placing a temporary hold for the plan's first charge and releasing it right away. Nothing is charged. If the bank declines that check, your trial still starts as normal and OpenClip asks you to add another card, which opens Stripe's secure card form and checks the new card when you come back.
At the end of day 3 the first charge runs for the plan you picked, and the full first cycle of credits is allocated then. Your plan starts at the end of the trial unless you cancel before then; cancel anytime from your billing page. To skip the wait, use Start plan now in the trial banner; the trial-started email, and the email you get when a video is waiting because your trial credits ran out, link straight to it. It charges the first payment today, after a confirmation that shows the amount, and unlocks the full cycle of credits as soon as the payment settles. If the charge is declined, any remaining trial credits are reclaimed and credit spending locks until a payment succeeds.
The same lock applies when a paid renewal fails, even if your team still shows a positive balance. Video processing, AI Writer content, AI UGC, and scheduled social publishing all pause before paid work starts. While Stripe can still retry the invoice, OpenClip shows a Fix payment link to the Stripe billing portal. If Stripe has already canceled the subscription, OpenClip shows Start subscription and opens a new checkout instead. A successful later payment unlocks credit spending and resumes eligible parked uploads.
Clips rendered during the trial carry a watermark, and the watermark is baked into those files. Your first settled charge lifts it for every later render. Quick Captions export stays available while fewer than two completed Quick Captions Videos created in the current calendar month have an export recorded. Once the counter reaches two, all further Quick Captions exports are blocked until the next month.

Starter covers the core loop: AI clipping with virality scores, animated captions in 30+ languages, the editor, written content, filler and silence removal, and vertical reframing.
Pro adds everything a team or heavier workflow needs: the team workspace, the social media scheduler, input from 10+ sources, custom fonts, and speech enhancement, on top of priority processing and multiple Brands.
Business is the self-serve plan for brands and teams that run on video: 1,500 credits a month, unlimited Brands, team seats and a shared workspace, API and custom integrations, dedicated storage, and priority support with a dedicated Slack channel. Custom legal terms are available on request.
The Free plan includes a demo project and access to Tools, which run without a subscription. Clipping your own videos requires a trial or a paid plan.

Use the plan control in the app header to change plans. Open https://openclip.app/billing for the Stripe portal, where you can update payment methods, view invoices, and cancel.
